Creating Content

Generate AI-optimized content structured for AI systems to understand, cite, and reference. The Create section is where you write articles designed to maximize your visibility in AI-powered search results—and you have complete control over how it sounds.

How the Create Flow Works

Creating content is now a conversational experience. Instead of filling out forms, you chat with the AI to craft exactly the article you want.

The Conversational Approach

When you open Create, you'll see a simple prompt: "What do you want to write about?"

Just describe your topic in natural language:

  • "I want to write about sustainable packaging trends for ecommerce"
  • "Help me create a guide on hiring your first employee"
  • "Write something comparing CRM platforms for small businesses"

The AI takes your input and guides you through crafting the perfect article—step by step.

The 5-Step Creation Flow

Step 1: Describe Your Topic

Type what you want to write about. Be as specific or general as you like:

Input TypeExample
Broad idea"Something about remote work"
Specific topic"How to onboard remote employees effectively"
Question-based"What's the best way to handle customer complaints?"
Comparison"HubSpot vs Salesforce for small teams"

Step 2: Select a Topic Direction

Based on your input, the AI suggests 4 refined topic ideas. These are optimized for AI discoverability:

  • Select one that fits
  • Click Regenerate for different options
  • Or edit any suggestion to make it your own

This step ensures your content targets real questions AI systems are answering.

Step 3: Configure Your Settings

Customize how your article will be created:

SettingOptionsDescription
LengthShort (~500-800 words), Medium (~1000-1500), Long (~2000-2500), Comprehensive (~3000+)Match length to your topic's complexity
Brand VoiceYour saved Brand KitsApply your established voice, style, and terminology
Internal LinksSelect from your sitemapsPages to link to naturally throughout the content
PhotosSearch stock or upload your ownUp to 5 images embedded in your article

Pro Tip: Set up a Brand Kit first. Your content will sound consistent and on-brand from the start—whether you want formal and authoritative, conversational and witty, or anything in between.

Step 4: Review the Article Brief

Before any content is generated, you see a complete brief showing exactly what will be created:

The brief includes:

  • Title — The headline for your article
  • Target Audience — Who the content is written for
  • Tone — The voice and style that will be used
  • Estimated Word Count — How long the final article will be
  • Full Outline — Every section with key points to cover
  • Research Topics — What Perplexity will research for accurate, current data
  • Comparison Table — The structured comparison that will be included
  • FAQ Questions — The exact questions that will appear at the end

This is where you take control. Don't like something? Click "Suggest changes" and tell the AI what to adjust:

  • "Make it more technical"
  • "Add a section about pricing"
  • "Focus on beginners, not experts"
  • "Change the tone to be more conversational"
  • "Add more FAQs about implementation"

The AI refines the brief based on your feedback. Repeat until it's exactly what you want.

Step 5: Generate Your Article

Click "Looks good, generate article" and the AI creates your content following the approved brief.

Your article is automatically saved to your Content Library as a draft, ready for review, editing, and export.
