What Topics Does
The Topics section helps you discover what content AI systems like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini are currently citing when people ask questions in your industry. You'll see:
Which prompts are relevant to your business
What competitors are getting cited
Gaps where you can establish authority
One-click content creation from any topic
Getting Started
Step 1: Choose Your Input Method
Navigate to Topics from the left sidebar. You'll see two options:
Website URL Mode:
Enter your website URL (e.g., example.com or https://example.com)
We'll analyze your site, summarize your business, and generate 20 relevant search queries your potential customers might be asking AI systems
Keyword/Phrase Mode:
Enter a topic, product, or market question
Example: "Best B2B lead generation agencies" or "AI writing tools for content marketers"
We'll generate 20 relevant search queries based on that topic
Step 2: Save & Analyze
Click Save & Analyze to start the scan. The analysis takes about a minute to complete.
What happens during the scan:
We generate 20 search queries relevant to your business/topic
Each query is sent to AI models to see what content they cite
We identify which domains are being mentioned
Results populate in real-time as queries complete
Step 3: Review Your Results
Once complete, you'll see:
Your Mentions (URL mode only): How many queries cited your website
Avg Competitor: Average number of competitor citations per query
A list of all 20 queries with their citations
Understanding Topic Results
Each topic card shows:
Query Text
The search prompt analyzed
Favicon Stack
Visual preview of cited domains
Source Count
Total number of citations found
Cited Indicator (green icon)
Your domain was cited in this query (URL mode only)
Expanding a Topic
Click any topic to expand it and see:
Full citation list: Every URL the AI cited, with domain favicons
Your mentions highlighted: Your domain appears with a green "You" badge and highlighted border
Action buttons: Track the query or create content from it
Actions You Can Take
Track a Query
Click Track to add the query to your Visibility Dashboard for ongoing monitoring. This lets you:
See how your citations change over time
Get daily scans across multiple AI models
Monitor competitor movements
Note: Tracking counts against your plan's query limit.
Create Article
Click Create Article to instantly pre-fill the content creation form with:
Query as the article title
Relevant keywords from the AI analysis
Competitor citations as reference notes
AI response snippet for context
The topic will be marked as "Used" so you can track which opportunities you've acted on.
Managing Your Topics
Edit Configuration
Click Edit in the header card to:
Switch between URL and Keyword mode
Update your website URL or keyword
Trigger a fresh analysis
Delete Configuration
Click the trash icon to remove your current configuration and start fresh. This will delete all existing topic results.
Suggest or Add New Prompts
Click Suggest or Add New Prompts to:
Generate additional relevant queries beyond the initial 20
Manually add specific prompts you want analyzed
Replace existing topics with a new set
View Used Topics
The Used Topics dropdown at the top shows all topics you've already created articles from, so you don't duplicate efforts.
Pro Tips
• Use URL mode first – It gives you the most relevant queries for your specific business and shows when you're already being cited
• Focus on gaps – Topics where competitors are cited but you're not are your biggest opportunities
• Track before you create – Add high-value queries to tracking so you can measure the impact of your new content
• Check favicons – The domain icons give you a quick visual of who's dominating each query
• Refresh periodically – AI citations change; run a new analysis monthly to discover new opportunities
• Create from high-source topics – Queries with many citations indicate AI models have strong data; your content can join that pool
